Golf Club Communities

Sarasota and Bradenton are blessed with a large number of country club communities and private golf courses.

There are over 17 private and another 44 public golf course communities in the area. There is something for everyone. When you buy a house in one of Sarasota’s country club communities, it’s not just property you’re buying, it’s a lifestyle. With an abundance of amenities, luxurious, manicured grounds and fine dining, residents have almost everything they need.

Most country clubs have security gates and almost all offer golfing. Some courses are more challenging than others. Most of country clubs are equity clubs(owned by the members). Initiation and membership cost vary with many over $30,000, However, these prices seem reasonable compared to many other places in the US. Some of the more well known country clubs are listed below. Lakewood Ranch (Area 27)

One of the newest, large, award winning, master-planned community laid out in several separate villages of single-family, villa homes and condominium homes. Upscale shopping and dining is also planned for the community as well as a Town Hall.

A 36 hole private golf course and a superb public course are on the property. A gorgeous 45,000 square foot Italian Villa style clubhouse and a state-of-the-art fitness and tennis center make this community one of the premier places to live in Sarasota/Bradenton. Homes range from $250,000 to several million.

Laurel Oak Estates (Area 38)

This gated community boasts 813 acres with just 413 homesites. Known for large lots and lush, manicured landscaping, this prestigious community has a mix of architectural styles, from traditional Florida style homes to English Tudor style residences. Single-family homes range from $400,000 to more than $2 million.

Two Arnold Palmer designed 18 hole golf courses are well kept and offer a pleasant and rewarding golfing experience. Golf membership is limited to 600. The clubhouse is 45,000 square feet and offers fine dining, pro shop, and men's and women's locker rooms all in a setting of casual elegance.

University Park (Area 23)

Recognized as one of Sarasota's premier lifestyle communities, University Park offers a variety of homestyle choices, including maintenance-free, single-family homes, patio homes and custom-designed estates. There is a 27 hole semi-private golf course, which will become private in the very near future.

Palm-Aire (Area 22)

One of the area's distinguished country club communities, Palm-Aire consists of 1,300 acres of land with residences ranging from condos to estate-sized homes and wooded villa communities. Palm-Aire offers two championship golf courses, 14 lighted tennis courts, a pool and clubhouse.

The Oaks (Area 47)

There are two excellent championship courses, each with a different challenge and character. A central theme of The Oaks is the preservation of the natural environment in which the community is located. The Georgian style clubhouse has fine dining and many other amenities. Homes start around $500,000 and go to over $3,000,000.

Venetian (Area 51)

Located on the beautiful Myakka River, Venetian Golf & River Club boasts a spectacular lifestyle and outstanding home collection. The 18-hole championship golf course, designed by renowned golf course architect Chip Powell, will feature challenging holes in an exquisite setting and the planned river club and golf club are sure to be the hubs of a very active social scene.

Heritage Harbour (Area 13)

Grand Harbour is located within Stoneybrook at Heritage Harbour. This upscale neighborhood will be built by Rutenberg Homes, the luxury home division for U.S. Home. Homes will overlook the golf course or magnificent nature preserves. Homes will range in size from 2,100 sq. ft. to over 4,000 sq. ft. Prices from the $300's.

Waterlefe (Area 8)

Carriage, villas, classic homes, estates, grand estates and luxury estates are available at Waterlefe Golf & River Club with homes ready for immediate move-in or homes you choose to be built. Priced from the $200s to the $800s, now more than ever, Waterlefe Golf & River Club is the ultimate golf & river address.

Heritage Oaks (Area 41)

Heritage Oaks is a gated golf course and country club community offering three types of homestyles. There are Condominiums, Villas, Club Homes (paired villas) and Single Family Homes. The 18 hole Azinger/Lewis Championship Golf Course is a dream to play. The price for a single family home will start at over $250,000.

Misty Creek (Area 40)

Misty Creek is gated golf course community of 302 single family homes. The 18 hole championship golf course offers many forms of membership, from junior memberships to social memberships and an equity memberships. Homes range between the low $300,000's to over $500,000.

The Meadows (Area 29)

Sarasota county’s first “Master Planned Communiy”. The Meadows consists of several different neighborhoods meeting the needs of many types of owners. There are condominiums for seasonal visitors and full time residents, villas, and single family residences. There are three golf courses and state of the art tennis facilities available to members. The price for a condominium starts around $120,000 and a single family home will start at over $200,000.
